Tinaroo Barra Bash
  |  First Published: October 2003

THE TINAROO Barra Bash is a long established freshwater fishing event held annually at Lake Tinaroo on the Atherton Tablelands. The competition this year will be held on November 7-9 and has been developed as a family event.

The major prize this year will be a boating package valued at $18,000 offered as a Lucky Nomination Form Number Draw, giving every entrant the opportunity to win. There are many categories where competitors can win other great prizes including Champion Barramundi and six other barra categories, Mystery Weight Barramundi, Biggest Redclaw, Biggest Mangrove Jack, Wally’s Award, Mystery Weight for Sleepy Cod and Biggest Mouth Almighty and many other senior and junior categories.

The final day weigh-in and entertainment show starts at midday when all anglers will present their fish. This is definitely a show to see with plenty of sensational fish being weighed in front of the big crowd. All anglers will be invited on stage to let the crowd know of their secrets to success.

All profits from the event go to the Tableland Fish Stocking Society, enabling them to undertake research and stock monitoring programs and to restock the lake with a variety of species, including barramundi and mangrove jack. If you’d like to enter the competition you can pick up an entry form at many local businesses or at the event site, or contact Glenda on 0401 664 003 for more information. Remember to nominate early to be in the chance to win the great boating package. – TBB
