Golden Lure Competition

FOLLOWING the success of the 2002 Golden Lure Competition, where 61 teams of two caught and released 1860 fish of legal size or greater, the Kingaroy Sportfishing Club (ANSA) is looking forward to running this event again at Bjelke-Petersen Dam on November 1-2, 2003.

The event is a catch and release competition with everyone welcome to attend. There must be at least two people per team and only artificial lures and flies can be used. Trolling lures is allowed.

Prizes and trophies will be given for Champion Team and Runner Up, Champion Senior and Runner Up, Champion Junior and Runner Up, Longest Golden Perch and Longest Australian Bass.

The entry fee of $70 includes all meals for the weekend (BYO alcohol). Nominations close last mail on October 28, 2003. Freshwater Stocked Impoundment Permits are required to fish the competition.

Bjelke-Petersen Dam is situated near Murgon, 2 1/2 hours drive north of Brisbane. The facilities include bunkhouses, self-contained cabins, a caravan park with powered sites, hot showers and a well equipped café and tackle shop.
