THE LURE and Fly Angler’s Club Sunshine Coast Inc. will run the 2004 Make A Wish Flathead Challenge on 11 and 12 September at Caloundra, to raise funds for the Sunshine Coast Committee of the Make A Wish Foundation.

Generous sponsors have supplied a prize pool valued well in excess of $5000. Anglers don’t even have to weigh in a fish to take home a prize – the major prize of a canoe fitted with an electric motor and sounder, valued at over $2200, will be awarded by lucky draw.

Scoring anglers will take home rods, reels and line sponsored by ABU valued at approximately $250 each. Other prizes will include rods sponsored by Angler Rods and Gary Howard Custom Rods. Team prizes include ice boxes supplied by EvaKool and Tropical.

There will be lucky draws for family passes sponsored by Australia Zoo and Underwater World, Queensland Fishing Monthly subscriptions and Bush and Beach subscriptions. Also sport bags, caps, shirts and Squidgies videos will be sponsored by Shimano and valued at $250.

The draws will begin at the briefing on Friday evening and continue during the lunch break on Saturday and on Saturday evening.

Each competitor will receive a complimentary goodie bag containing a selection of lures from Pig Lures, Eddie Lures, C Lures, Lively Lures, Rio’s Lures and Ridgeback Lures, and a cap and drink holder to the value of approximately $30.

Cold drinks will be available and Make A Wish will be running the BBQs as well.
