Stessl Family Bass Challenge
  |  First Published: May 2004

THE SECOND round of the Stessl Family Bass Challenge was held over the weekend of March 20-21, 2004 and the rising water and flooded margins made for some spectacular and rewarding reaction bait fishing.

Making the most of the edge bite in the Senior Section was Shaun Jackson who weighed a limit of large bass to take out the round, while Monique Mott just edged out her brother Dylan to win the Sub Junior Section and Brendon O’Reilly took the win in the Junior Section.

Tournament organiser Gordon Turner said the fishing was OK on Saturday, but as the anglers got tuned into the edge bite the Sunday session produced some great fishing and some big fish on spinnerbaits and lipless crankbaits. Some big fish were measured, with John Davies Jnr taking a 498mm bass in the Sub Junior Section, Jessica Smith presenting a 481mm bass in the Junior Section and Zach Kronk and Scott Evans tying in the Senior Section with a great 508mm Somerset bass.

All competitors earned points towards the ultimate goal – becoming the series winner – and with the next round scheduled for May 15 and 16, interested anglers should get in touch with Gordon Turner on 0418 877 525 for more details. – SFB
