THE VB Straddie Fishing Classic will once again be held at the Stradbroke Island Beach Hotel on North Stradbroke Island, from August 10 to 16.
The chance to win a share of $250,000 in cash and prizes is sure to lure back previous entrants along with plenty of new competitors. The event, now in its 12th year, is designed as a family event, with men, women and children all encouraged to enter.
Competitors can participate in both beach and boat fishing, with all entrants having an equal opportunity to win. Major prizes include a Mazda 4WD and Cruisecraft boat with Yamaha outboard, as well as daily and weekly competitions and cash prizes for the heaviest catch in each category.
With up to 1800 entrants in previous years, organisers aim to avoid concentrated fishing in one area, setting the tournament boundaries from the Caloundra Bar in the north right down to Point Danger.
Entry is $121 for adults and $50 for juniors. Entry forms are available from Redlands Tourism, who can be contacted on (07) 3821 0057 or by email at --e-mail address hidden-- To assist competitors, Redlands Tourism will be providing a free booking and information service, as well as managing the event's administration. – Redlands Tourism.Reads: 3173
