IN THE 2002 South East Queensland Freshwater Catch and Release Competition, 71 competitors in 32 teams enjoyed some great fishing action at Boondooma Dam. Anglers travelled from Cairns in the north to Grafton in the south to compete, and they weren’t disappointed with the quality of the fishing or the camaraderie during the event.
Weather varied from rain to overcast skies to hot and sticky conditions, but anglers still managed to catch and release a record number of fish – 2388. That’s just over 33 fish per competitor.
On behalf of the organisational committee and the North Brisbane Sport Fishing Club, I thank all the competitors and sponsors for their support and look forward to their continued support next year. Thanks also go to the Ipswich United Sport Fishing Club who put on a top feed. - Brian Harvey, North Brisbane Sport Fishing Club.
