Yalio boat rollers
  |  First Published: July 2005

If you’ve owned an aluminium boat in the past, you’ve probably experienced first-hand how easily the commonly available PVC keel rollers on your trailer fail.

With the roller not rolling, there’s only one thing for the aluminium keel on your boat to do, and that’s cut into the roller. We’ve all seen those rollers in the boat ramp carpark that looking like a dog’s been chewing on them for years.

Phil Black was frustrated that his rollers were getting chewed up by his aluminium boat time after time – especially since he used to sell aluminium rollers that worked a treat in his marine chandlery store decades ago.

So, after reminiscing about ‘the good old days’ of boat rollers, Phil decided to do something about it and invented the Yalio boat rollers that are guaranteed not to be chewed up like your current PVC ones.

Phil’s design has taken the best of both worlds, with a self-centring aluminium helix and tapered moulded PVC end guides that help keep the keel in position while launching and retrieving your boat.

As well as establishing a market with boat trailer manufacturers, Phil has a range of distributors, meaning you can buy a set of Yalio keel rollers to turn your pain-in-the-neck trailer into a joy to use.

There are three sizes available, the 200mm (8”), 150mm (6”) and 100mm (4”), each with the choice of a 22mm centre hole to suit 20mm roller pins or in 17mm centre holes to suit 16mm roller pins.

To retro-fit a set to a standard 5m boat trailer takes around half an hour. For trade and pricing enquiries or your nearest retailer, call Yalio on (02) 6554 9337 or visit www.yalio.com.au. – Travis Davies
