Port Macquarie to host Bream Classic

PORT MACQUARIE has received a major boost with news the town will host an ABT event.

Staged by Port Macquarie Holidays, the Port Macquarie Bream Classic will be over two days on November 13 and 14. The catch-and-release event is a major coup for the town with celebrity anglers such as Steve Starling attending.

Bream spinning is now a national TV sporting spectacle, with the AFC Outdoors Bream Pro Series being aired on Channel 10 earlier this year. Top tournament anglers enjoy celebrity status among Australia’s massive fishing community and ABT events boost the local economy of participating towns.

Port Macquarie Holidays is leaving no stone unturned to ensure the Port Macquarie Bream Classic is one of the most successful events on the ABT circuit.

The Hastings River and its waterways will form the battleground for Classic, with members of the two-angler teams working together to catch five bream a day. The combined weight of both days’ catches will determine the winners.

Port Macquarie Holidays is planning for the Port Macquarie Bream Classic to become a permanent fixture on the fishing calendar. To enter, visit www.portmacquarieholidays.com.au and fill out an entry form, or phone Dave Poulton on 0401 191 554. – Port Macquarie Holidays
