Boondooma Dam Fishing Competition
  |  First Published: October 2008

Boondooma Dam Yellowbelly Fishing Competition spokesman John Burow says that with dam levels above 40% the annual competition to be held on 8 and 9 February 2009 should provide great fishing.

No speed restriction in relation to boating activity on the lake is being considered for the weekend of the competition due to the favourable dam water level and organisers are excited about the prospect of showing off this great recreational fishery.

The fishing and family fun weekend is a major fundraiser that supports the ongoing stocking of Lake Boondooma. This stocking program sees hundreds of thousands of fish released into the waterway for future fishing experiences and so far, these stckings have proven a boon for the lake.

Accommodation is available at the dam and includes 5 self-contained cabins, a communal bunkhouse, powered sites, non-powered lakeside camping areas and modern amenities blocks. For information on camping fees go to the South Burnett Regional Council website www.wondai.qld.gov.au .

All anglers must have a current Stock Impoundment Permit. Permits can be purchased from the kiosk at Lake Boondooma or online at www.dpi.qld.gov.au .
