Cabbage Tree Point Jack and Jew Comp
  |  First Published: December 2011

The Annual Cabbage Tree Point Jack and Jew Comp is on again from January 5 through to January 8, 2012.

Hosted by Cabbage Tree Point Bait n Tackle, this annual competition will see anglers vie for a swag of prizes including the top prizes of $1000 cash and assorted prizes for the angler who lands the largest mangrove jack and the largest mulloway (jew). There are also cash prizes for the runner up and third placed angler in the two naming divisions as well.

But there are more prizes on offer with other categories open in the competition. Anglers can fish for the biggest whiting, bream and flathead top win themselves $250 cash and a bunch of sponsor prizes as well.

Last year saw anglers battle it out in some pretty ordinary conditions due to all the rain and flooding, yet they still managed to put together some amazing fish like the mulloway (jew) winner Bailey Hescltine who landed an impressive 81cm model, and Dave Bannon’s cracking 57cm jack. Even our own Dr Glass (Jo Bonnici) got in on the act with a ripping 83cm flathead to take out that section.

If you’re interested in joining this competition registration forms can be sent to Cabbage Tree Point Bait n Tackle on Cabbage Tree Point Rd right next to the boat ramp. Entries cost $70 and this will see you get an incredible bag of goodies and a tournament shirt.
