$50,000 Tagged Barra...what a catch!

The 2011 Mount Isa Lake Moondarra Fishing Classic is set to make headlines this year with the Mount Isa Water Board putting a whopping $50,000 cash on the line for any angler who is lucky enough to catch the famous Mount Isa Water Board Tagged Barra. This increase in cash now gives the Lake Moondarra Fishing Classic boasting rights as the ‘Richest Freshwater Fishing Competition in Queensland’.

Event manager George Fortune is proud of the events new tagline; “The ability to have the richest freshwater fishing competition in Queensland is fantastic. Not only is it great for the region to have such a prestigious title, but its great news for the anglers too. The Mount Isa Fish Stocking Group is very proud to receive recognition from organisations such as the Mount Isa Water Board who can see the events growth and potential for further development”.

The weekend offers an enormous line up of entertainment for spectators and visitors. In addition to the $50,000 on the major prize and thousands of dollars in cash, prizes and trophies for the anglers, spectators can once again take in all the thrills and spills of the dragon boat regatta, the action of the beach volleyball competition, marvel at the fireworks spectacular or even un-wind to the huge line up of live music, live entertainment coordinator Kenny Glanville has organised.

Food, drink and bar facilities will be available over the weekend and camping facilities will be available for competitors wishing to stay at the lake.

The event will be held from 12 noon Friday October 28, winding up with the presentations with special guest Steve Starling around 2:30 pm Sunday October 30.
