Entrance Still Open
  |  First Published: September 2011

During the past two months we have endured extensive rainfall creating two minor floods in our waterways, therefore flushing out the system beautifully.

At the time of writing the entrance remains open with plenty of Australian salmon, tailor and the odd trevally begging to be caught.

A couple of the locals ventured over to the channel and had a ball catching salmon. One of them is still sooking because he lost his old rusty lure, which was about 15 years old.

His mate discovered that leaving the new lures on the dashboard of the car at the boat ramp was not the smartest thing to do either.

They still managed to bring home a nice bag of salmon. The lures definitely seem to excite the salmon when they are in large numbers.

Due to the town being relatively quiet I have not had any reports on the surf.

The nights have been quite frosty so for those who are prepared to venture to the surf rather than toasting their toes by the fire with a fine glass of red, you may just be rewarded with the odd gummy.

Now that the water is starting to clear up, I have had reports of nice size bream are being caught on vibes between the channel and the Mahoganys.

With the onset of spring, warmer weather and warmer water, we should be starting to see the luderick entering the channel. So if you have been considering visiting Bemm River, now is definitely the time to get organised.

Bemm River is proving to be the ‘hot spot’ in Gippsland for the angler once again. Pick up the phone or email for your bookings now at www.bemmaccommodation.com.au , phone on (03) 5158 4233 or email us at --e-mail address hidden--
