Bidgee Classic a big one
  |  First Published: April 2011

The Bidgee Classic is fast becoming one of regional NSW’s premier fishing events and this year’s, from March 11 to 13, will be bigger and better than ever.

Proudly supported by Riverina Marine Centre, Yamaha and Leeton Shire Council and organised by local anglers, the Classic will be held at the picturesque Gogeldrie Weir on the Murrumbidgee River.

Attracting hundreds of anglers, the Classic encourages catch and release of native species such as Murray cod and golden perch and proceeds continue to be used to restock the Murrumbidgee with native fingerlings.

Thousands of dollars’ worth of prizes are on offer in many different categories, as well as for kids’ casting competitions, raffles, entertainment and much more.

For expert anglers or novices, the Bidgee Classic will ensure a great family weekend.

More than $30,000 in prizes will be won including two Quintrex/Yamaha boat, motor and trailer packages.

Camping is available at Gogeldrie Weir for $7.50 per adult, $5 per child over 14 years and $3.50 per child under 14. Gogeldrie Weir has fantastic barbecue facilities, toilets, showers and a fully stocked kiosk. Get in early to book your site by phoning the caretaker on 02 6955 9267 or 0428 684 173
