The don’t-go-bush-without-one Speedy Seal tyre puncture repair kit is invaluable to 4WD enthusiasts.

The entire kit comprises of tyre gauge, spring steel insertion needle, lubricant to facilitate insertion, valve accessories, reamer tool, 30 self sealing vulcanizing repair cords, plus Allen keys, which all fit neatly into a strong but compact carry case.

The instructions with the kit are concise and easy to follow. Once the site of the puncture is noted the kit’s strong hand reamer will clean out the puncture, separating any steel belts within the tyre. A lubricated cord (a plug) is pushed into the hole made by the reamer by the kits special insertion tool. On withdrawal of the tool, the self vulcanizing cord remains in the hole to repair the leak.

It is important to deflate tyres in certain driving conditions, such as running up the beach, or maybe travelling over very hard and rocky terrain, and for optimum results tyres need to be deflated accurately and quickly. This is where the E-Z tyre deflator comes into the picture.

The E-Z tyre deflator unit thread onto and then extract the valve core. By activation of the large metal slide valve on the tool, air can be allowed to escape quickly to get tyres down to the required pressure. A large pressure gauge dial on the tool keeps the user informed as to how things are going.

The E-Z deflator is a lot more precise than some random narrow object, such as a match, thrust into the valve. Anything lodged in that valve and unable to be withdrawn can mean big trouble as the tyre will continue to deflate.
