March is the best
  |  First Published: February 2010

March is a very productive month of fishing, with quality bream, dusky flathead, perch and tailor in the river and estuary.

Most fish have recently been taken on soft plastic lures and local prawn. The water level in the lake is stable and the lake is about half, which makes it great fishing in the popular areas.

March presents itself to be probably one of the best months of the year with an absolute abundance of prawns which create a lot of fun for anglers.

Prawns are excellent for bait and great eaters for the table.

The full moon has seen excellent gummy fishing with one gummy caught recently by a newcomer from Phillip Island, at Pearl Point weighing in at 15kg.

Salmon and tailor have been plentiful at most times of the day.

Some new strategies have been used fishing the surf with lures and soft plastics on light-weight bream gear, creating an enormous amount of fun with all sorts of catches including yellowfin bream, sandy flathead, silver trevally, salmon and tailor.

This style of fishing is becoming very popular with all ages.

Bemm River has progressed to become one of the most popular fishing destinations on our eastern sea board with accommodation houses at their maximum capacity.

If you are planning a trip to the area, please give yourself plenty of time to arrange your accommodation.

Accommodation facilities in Bemm River are now equal to any resort area.
