After the success of last year’s event, this year is sure create plenty of buzz: Who will be the title holder for 2010?

Last year’s team winners were Trevor Burgess of Calliope and Calum Munro of Sunshine Coast from Team Berkley. These two anglers put on a great display of angling skills: They came second in round one and first in round two with a score of 7834 points, which won them $500 each plus prizes. They will be the team to beat this year.

The highly popular BP ‘Picker Box’ will again be offered in 2010 to all competitors to give them the chance to pick up a prize or cash. And this year there will be even better prizes and more cash to give away for everyone.

The best cash and prizes will be awarded to the Australian Champion Basstasstic Bass Fishing Team. Each round of the event also has prizes with three sessions in round one and round two. The more anglers enter the more cash to giveaway in payouts. For 15 teams or less, then the starting cash payout for the winning Basstasstic Australian Champion team is $400 for each angler. For every five teams that enter after that the prize money rises by $200.

Each team must consist of a total of three anglers: two in a team plus a reserve. Only two anglers fish at a time and the nominated reserve is there to replace a sick or absent team member. The team name will remain the same for the entire event regardless of angler changes.

Teams can choose to only fish one round and still be eligible for prizes, however, anglers must fish both rounds to be in the running for the Championship title and major cash and prizes. Sponsors for this year are Anaconda, Shimano, River2sea, Eagle Australia, Trevor’s leathers, and Kustom Tackle.

Anglers aim to bring in four legal sized bass per session equalling 12 per event.

The briefing will be held at 8pm Friday 16 July at Borumba Deer Park. Fees for members will be $100 per team and fees for non-members will be $120 per team. For more information contact Russell Nowland on (07) 4167 8183 or go to www.basstasstic.com for information. – Basstasstic
