The clouds dispersed and rain stayed away for the first ABT electric Tournament of the year at Clarrie Hall Dam.
As usual the dam was in beautiful condition and is one of the most relaxing and scenic venues on the calendar. A total of 45 boats and 70 anglers tried their luck on the day with mixed results.
Out of 70 anglers, 47 weighed in fish for a total of 72 Bass all up. All the anglers did extremely well and it was a close finish amongst the top 15
First place went to Chesley Lennon with 2.325kg for two Bass, which included the Big Bass of 1.205kg. Chesley fished an Atomic hardbody lure for all of his fish, which hit whilst paused.
Second place went to John ski with 2.110kg, which also included a tie for Big Bass. John used a Beatle Spin to snare his bass.
Josh Carpenter placed thrid with 2.025kg and fished way down near the dam wall. He found that a finesse technique of 6lb Fluorocarbon all the way to his cut down smoked yellow core slider did the trick.
Ian Galloway with 1.980kg and Adrian Melchior with 1.965kg finished off the top five places and secured their spot in the Electric Convention later this year.
Thanks goes to all the great sponsors for being able to run these Tournaments and many thanks to the anglers for being patient and courteous.
On behalf of the Stocking Group, thanks goes out to Fishing Monthly and ABT for their continuing support and donations. – Tony Payne
