They’re back!

Just when you thought it was all over, the Echuca/Moama RSL & Citizens Club Fishing Classic is back…bigger and better than ever!

After a year off due to safety concerns of low water, the team at the Echuca/Moama RSL have pulled no punches in organising the 2009 Fishing Classic, with great help from their major partners; Stargames, Evinrude BRP, XXXX Gold and Riverside Boats & Leisure.

With over 22km of the majestic Murray River to fish, there is sure to be a snag somewhere with your name on it that may hold the fish that will win you a fantastic boat/motor/trailer (B/M/T) package. There are an amazing three boats to giveaway over the weekend of March 27, 28 and 29 along with myriad minor prizes for both junior and senior anglers. All up, there is over $40,000 worth of great prizes to giveaway.

It’s an all new format this year so don’t concern yourself if the big one always eludes you. All you have to do is catch (and release) a legal cod no smaller than 60cm or a golden perch of at least 30cm, get it measured by an on-water Marshal, and when the fish swims away you will receive a ticket that goes into a barrel for your chance to win a B/M/T package worth $6,000.

These great prizes are open for all anglers (juniors and seniors) so kids get Mum and Dad to bring you up and who knows, you could have Dad’s Fathers Day present all wrapped up.

And if you reckon you are no good at catching native fish, don’t panic as this years special guest is none other than the human broom stick himself Kaj ‘Bushy’ Busch, who will be on hand all weekend to give out all his secrets on how to tangle with the local resident fish from the Murray River around Echuca/Moama.

This is a fantastic weekend with great fun for the whole family. It offers terrific promotions across the whole weekend starting on the Friday night. If you have never fished or experienced the mighty Murray, this is arguably one of the best-run fishing comps going around…and is only two and a half hours from Melbourne.

See you there!
