The Echuca-Moama RSL and Citizens Club Fishing Classic is set to be the biggest and best event staged yet.
Held over three days, from Friday March 27 through to Sunday March 29, the event allows competitors over 22km of river to fish in this exciting catch and release-style tournament.
During the competition all fish must be caught in compliance with NSW Fisheries Regulations and failure to do so will see competitors disqualified and their entry fee being forfeited. The organisers have advised Fisheries NSW of the event and Fisheries Officers are expected to be on site during the cmpetition.
To register your catch and be eligible for one of the prizes in the Legal Native Section, you must be sighted and confirmed by a marshal, of which there will be plenty on the water. The marshal will give you a ticket that you must place in the appropriate barrel at the club’s premises in Moama by 1pm on Sunday March 29. These tickets will only be supplied to the competitor on release of their catch in a fit and healthy state. Anglers catching carp and redfin must not return their catch to the water. These need to be handed to a marshal who will issue a ticket for entry into the carp and redfin sections of the tournament.
Registration for the event takes place at the club located on Merool Lane Moama on Friday March 27 from 5pm. That night there will be $7000 in prizes to be won in raffle draws and competitors can purchase meal deals to cover their needs for the weekend.
Fishing starts on Saturday at 7am and continues until 4pm. After that there is a big evening of giveaways and lucky draws for petrol vouchers, boats and more. There is also a further $5000 in raffle prizes to be won on Saturday night.
Sunday’s fishing starts again at 7am, but finishes at 11am to give competitors and organisers a chance to get their tickets into the right barrels and get set for the major prize draw of a $12000 boat motor and trailer package.
This is a massive event with over $40000 in prizes and raffles prizes given away over the weekend. Don’t miss your chance to have a great weekend and be in with a chance to win some awesome prizes.
