122 fishers took part in Rocky Barra Bounty 2003, held in the Fitzroy River at Rockhampton. 35 of the 61 teams tagged at least one barramundi, with a further six teams tagging a different eligible species.
Overall there were 116 barramundi tagged and released with an average length of 549mm. Other species tagged included gold-spot estuary cod (29), king threadfin (26), blue threadfin (23), dusky flathead (8), fingermark (1) and pikey bream (1).
The teams trophy was won by Fishing Friday, who tagged seven barra for the tournament, while Mark Thompson was the overall champion tagging five barra. Shaun Collins, who tagged four barra, and Alan Hobbs who tagged three, followed Mark on the championship board.
