Green wins on wild Somerset
  |  First Published: September 2004

THE FOURTH round of the Stessl Somerset Bass Series was held on a windy and wild Somerset on July 17-18, 2004.

With few fish weighed in because of Somerset’s tough fishing over the last few months, keen basser David Green took an early lead on Saturday with one of the few four-fish limits for the day.

This lead turned out to be important for Green as Sunday’s session had to be called off for safety reasons with the weather bureau issuing a gale force wind warning. The winners were declared form Saturday’s results and Green walked away with a bag full of prizes and the all important points that go toward the major senior prize package at the end of the series.

Only one junior angler weighed in a fish and that was Kris George, allowing Kris to also take out the Junior Biggest Bass with a 382mm fish. The corresponding prize in the senior category was taken out by young gun Carl Jocumsen with a sensational 526mm bass. All the remaining prizes for the Junior and Sub-Junior sections were given out as a random draw for all the kids who attended for the weekend. – SFBS
