THE THIRD round of the Stessl Somerset Bass Series saw 96 anglers competing for the prizes, with most commenting on the difficult fishing.
Only three anglers brought in their limit of six fish with Davo’s tackle stalwart Mark Pertot taking out his second round for the year with a 6/6 limit of 45cm fork-length bass.
“I found the fishing great on Saturday, but Sunday was difficult,” commented Mark when QFM interviewed him.
“I caught my fish in the first bay up from the treeline fishing two different techniques. The first involved casting 1/2oz gold TT Vortex spinnerbaits to the grassy edges to pick up active fish and the second method, with the same lure, saw me targeting deep fish in the channels amongst the trees,” Mark finished.
Jay Morgan took out second place ahead of young bass gun Carl Jocumsen.
In the Junior section Kris George finished above Lauren Sargent and Brendan O’Reilly, while the Sub-Junior section was won by Dylan Mott.
ABT regular Jamie Facer landed the biggest bass for the weekend, a horse of 518mm.
Almost all anglers are still in with a shot at the major prizes for the year so check out the entry form or call Gordon Turner for more information. - Stessl
