THE REDLAND Bay Amateur Fishing Club is inviting all those who would like to win some great prizes to the 2004 Humminbird Moreton Bay and Offshore Family Fishing Challenge. The Challenge is set for the Queen’s Birthday Weekend from Jun 11-14.

2004 is set for a great Challenge. The event will be held in the park next to the Redland Bay Hotel and each entrant has the opportunity to win some great prizes. Commencing at 7pm on Friday June 11, the official opening will take place with briefing and the draw of the Early Entry prizes. If you want to be eligible for the Early Entry prize (seniors and juniors) you will need to have your entry form in by May 28, 2004.

It will be lines down at midnight Friday after the official opening, and you then have two-and-a-half days to show off your fishing skill. Weigh-ins will be on Saturday and Sunday afternoon between 4pm and 6pm, with the final weigh-in for the weekend held on Monday between 11am and 1pm. Once the Monday weigh-in is completed, the presentation of the 11 category winners (1st, 2nd and 3rd in each category) will get underway.

There are great prizes and cash on offer with bream, whiting, snapper and pearl perch each having a $1500 bounty for the heaviest fish, while the heaviest pelagic will snare the lucky angler $1000.

Last year there were many happy anglers and prize winners who went home after the Challenge with eskies, fishing equipment, sounders and lots more as well as live entertainment to make the weekend and exciting and enjoyable for the entire family.

The entry fee is only $55 for adults and $20 for juniors who are under 16 years old as of June 11, 2004. Entry forms are available from your local tackle shop and you can lodge entries by posting a cheque for the required amount, together with your completed entry form, to the Redland Bay Amateur Fishing Club Inc at PO Box 7098, Redland Bay, 4165. You can also lodge your entry in person at Nu-Marine, 76 Shore St, Cleveland or Redland Auto and Marine, 21-27 Bunker Rd, Victoria Point.
