Greenback Tailor Fishing Competition

THE CASUARINA Beach Greenback Tailor Competition is on again, with sensational prizes on offer and events to keep everyone happy. The comp is a beach, rock and estuary tournament, attracting up to 1000 competitors with $25,000 in prizes and trophies.

Held over the weekend of June 12-13, this fun family event will be based at the Casuarina Conference Centre located on Barclay Dve, Casuarina Beach. All money raised goes to the Tweed Heads District Rescue Squad and the Cabarita Beach Surf Life Saving Club.

All the competition elements remain the same and prize categories include Senior Male, Female, Vet (Over 50) and Junior (16 and under). There will be prizes for heaviest fish in a range of species, and trophies for Champion Fish in all categories.

Once again, heaviest and second heaviest tailor will receive a cash prize as well as a range of fishing products donated by various sponsors.

Due to the redevelopment of the Cabarita Hotel, Casuarina will now be the venue for the weekend’s activities. The sign-on will be in the Casuarina Beach Conference Centre on Saturday, and the weigh-in will start at 9am sharp on the Sunday. Other events scheduled for Sunday include lucky draws, raffles and the famous Fish Auction.

There will be a range of activities at Casuarina over the weekend, including an art display, face painting, food, music and fireworks, so all members of the family can enjoy themselves.

The major Lucky Draw prize is a Quintrex tinnie, motor and trailer package, which can be won by anyone entering the competition.

Postal entries must be received by May 28. 4WD permits will be available on the day for $10. All entrants must have a NSW Fishing Licence which are available from all bait and tackle shops.
