Haines Hunter will unveil the first Australian-built fibreglass boat custom made for fresh- and saltwater markets at the Brisbane Tinnie and Tackle Show (running from April 22-25).
The ProStrike 495 is the first boat produced by Haines Hunter in its 45-year history to target freshwater fishing. Haines Hunter Sales and Marketing Manager, Glenn Davidson, said the enormous popularity of the bream, bass and barra segment of the market convinced Haines Hunter to challenge the locally-made aluminium bream/bass boats and the imported models for a share of the market with a fibreglass range designed specifically for Australian conditions.
“Although the 495 ProStrike is the first boat produced by Haines Hunter with the freshwater market in mind, it features a new hull and deck design which will make it equally at home for freshwater and saltwater fishing,” Mr Davidson said.
“The new model will satisfy all types of fishing as the ProStrike has been designed as a fishing platform.”
The ProStrike series will be a side console with bow and stern casting platforms, water and airtight compartments, 8ft rod lockers and all the high quality standard features expected with this type of hull.
The first release in the ProStrike series is 4.9m long, rated to 150hp and has a layout and construction based on Australian conditions.
The ProStrike series will be beamy, giving the boat super stability. The wide beam, coupled with a 21-degree deadrise and the patented Haines Hunter PDV hull, will give this exciting new rig the perfect performing hull in flat water and heavy chop.
In delivering the new ProStrike series, Haines Hunter has collaborated with Shimano to create a boat that Australia has never seen before. Fishing pros consulted on the project include Andrew Ettingshausen and Ian Miller.
Haines Hunter will team with Shimano and Yamaha to fish competitions throughout Australia, although customers can obtain other brand outboard options through the appropriate Haines Hunter dealers. – Haines HunterReads: 1210
