AT THE Moreton Bay Billfish Challenge, hosted by the Moreton Bay Boat Club Game and Sportfish Section and The Moreton Bay Game Fishing Club, 18 boats over 7m and four boats under 7m fished the two days.

The 91 competitors recorded 153 strikes, 93 hookups and 65 captures including 17 black marlin, three striped marlin, two sailfish and four yellowfin tuna, all of which were tagged.

At the presentation breakfast on Monday, the Sambuca crew were awarded champion team and champion boat over 7m. Keneka finished second with three marlin, and Shakara third with two marlin and seven wahoo.

The organisers thank all the sponsors for their support, and are hoping for an even bigger and better Challenge in 2004. – Gordon Macdonald.
