The Lenthalls Dam recreational area is undergoing a major facelift to make visits more enjoyable for everyone.
Wide Bay Water Corporation has closed Lenthalls Dam down to start work on upgrades to the campsite road, drainage, car parks, boat ramp and picnic area. Upgrades began on January 17 and are expected to be completed by Saturday April 30, 2005.
During this period, Lenthalls Dam will be a work site and full workplace health and safety precautions will be taken. The Lenthalls Dam recreation area will be closed and access to the dam will be limited until work is complete.
After the construction is complete, the boat ramp will be double the width it is now, making it 6m wide. The carpark area will be fully bitumened with eight parks designed specially for cars and trailers.
Further upgrades planned for the Lenthalls Dam Recreational Area include camping facilities, upgraded amenity blocks, picnic tables, shelters and barbecues as well as playground area and landscaped gardens.
