2004 MARKS the 28th year the World Barramundi Championships will be held in the Albert River at Burketown. The event is hosted by the Burketown Barramundi Fishing Organisation for the benefit of the Royal Flying Doctor Service and other community benefit groups and will be run over the Easter break – from Friday April 9 through to Sunday April 11.
Nomination and entry fees can be placed on Thursday evening between 6pm and 10pm with entry fees being $25 for the Open section, $10 for Juniors (under 14) and $50 for the Family section (2 adults, 2 kids). Nominations are open until 12 noon on Saturday April 10.
The final weigh-in will close at 1pm on Sunday April 11 with entertainment, food and a bar service at the Shire Hall from 6pm. Shortly after the presentation will take place where all the prize category trophies will be handed out.
There are plenty of categories to try your luck in with the major category being the heaviest barramundi in the Open section. There are also mystery weights, lucky nomination prizes and a host of heaviest species prizes to be given away.
