Fisher Boats’ New Premises
  |  First Published: February 2003

FISHER Boats has kicked off the new year with a move to new premises at Bribie Island. Located in various Brisbane bayside suburbs for the past nine years, Col from Fisher said it was time to make the move.

“The shed at Manly was just too small,” Col explained. “We had been making do for nearly two years because the opportunity for a move into a bigger, more suitable premises were limited in this [Wynnum-Manly] area. Bribie presented itself as the ideal location and we took the opportunity”.

The new shed located in Armitage Street, Bribie Island, is more than double the factory floor size of the old shed, allowing Col to provide the perfect working environment to produce his popular 450 and 480 plate boats. “The guys are happy in the new shed,” Col said. “They don’t seem to be each others’ pocket and it should result in more boats each month.”

There were a number of other reasons that persuaded Col that the move was the right thing to do. Col loves to get out on the water to wet a line, and moving to Bribie Island has allowed him to spend more time doing that.

“The whole lifestyle change for the business and my family was part of the reason why we chose Bribie,” Col said with a smile. “It’s a great place for me to spend more time fishing with the kids.”

One of the last boats completed at the old shed was Andy Bichel’s Fisher 580 Maxi Series. Col put a lot of time into the new boat to get it perfectly suited to Andy’s needs.

“I’m proud of the finished product,” Col said. “It looks fantastic painted in the Qld Bulls’ colours (cream and maroon) and Bic is certainly very happy. He can’t wait to put a few hours on the clock!”

Fisher Boats is now located at Unit 1/11 Armitage Street, Bribie Island, ph. (07) 3408 0722. – Trent Butler.
