After the success of the inaugural BREAM Australian Open, Bing Lee and ABT have partnered to run the second Australian Open on Sydney Harbour – between February 8 and 11, 2005.
“Last year, the Australian Open ran in conjunction with the 4WD and Fishing Show in Sydney in March, but with that show moving to June, the decision was made to keep the event at the start of the season and move it forward to February,” said ABT Tournament Director, Simon Goldsmith.
“We’ve also moved venues, and the event will run – complete with the Reef Science display tank – at the Drummoyne Sailing Club. The sailing club is a perfect venue and is central for both anglers and spectators.”
2004 saw Team Airlite (Scotty Towner and Darryl Schroder) walk away with a cheque for $10,000 cash from a pool of 34 teams. 2005’s event is poised to be bigger and better. At $1100 per team, the more teams that enter, the bigger the prize money pool.
