The fishing around Lakes Entrance is still quite good off the jetties along the Cunningham Arm.
Luderick have been caught on local weed and live shrimp. There have also been a few bream and trevally mixed up with them.
Bullock Island is a good place to cast a lure with some salmon and tailor caught recently.
Local Rick Chatterley caught a very nice bream recently on local prawn. It measured 44cm and was his best fish for a long time.
Outside, the fishing has been patchy because of the windy weather but the odd report is coming through. There are still lots of small snapper out on the Six and Ten Mile reefs.
October is a good time for some top quality gummies off the beach so come in and drift around. The best baits are whole locally caught squid. For more information ring Mako Charters on 0428 397 849 or (03) 5155 2219.
Lake Tyers is still the best place for some quality fish, with most bream still moving up the arms to spawn. The Nowa Nowa arm is still the best. Trident to Devils Hole have been the better places to fish for bream, flathead and some very big luderick around the Snagie. The bottom end off the lake is seeing some tailor caught by spinning with metal lures. Locals Nic Wolffenbuttel and Blair Tunnage caught a few leatherjackets on prawns and local squid during early September in the bottom end of the lake around the no. 2 boat ramp.
