This year’s Swan Hill Services Club Fishing Classic was held at the Pental Island Caravan Park.
The Swan Hill Rotary and Lions Club run the competition. Proceeds help the local community and go towards buying fish to restock the river.
This year, 10,000 yellowbelly were released into the Murray River after the competition, which is limited to 100 boats and 200 anglers.
The competition is a great social weekend with all meals catered for and a spinning wheel on both the Friday and Saturday nights.
Local Yamaha dealer Andrew Ash donated a punt for the raffle. Other sponsors included Maher’s Glass and Windows who donated the colourful marshalling shirts, Murray Downs Resort and Mallee Tyre Service. Additional prizes for the spinning wheel were donated by local businesses.
If you’re interested in taking part in next year’s competition write to the Swan Hill Service Clubs Fishing Classic, PO Box 1460, Swan Hill Victoria 3585.
