Port’s BREAM Classic biggest yet

Port Macquarie’s premier fishing event is on again. An Australian BREAM Tournament (ABT) endorsed event, the Sundowner BREAM Classic at Port Macquarie will be held over the weekend of November 18-19. Thanks to the Sundowner Breakwall Tourist Park, the catch and release competition will see the return of Australia’s most recognisable angler, Steve Starling.

Bream spinning is a national TV sporting spectacle, with the AFC Outdoors Pro Series filming its fourth season on Channel Ten. The Sundowner Breakwall Tourist Park is proud to sponsor the Port’s hugely popular BREAM Classic once again, with the local tournament now in its third year.

Hot up and coming angler Kris Hickson will compete this year after strutting his stuff in AFC (Australian Fishing Championships). Kris is a highly talented, good role model with plenty of knowledge to impart to younger anglers.

The Reef Science Tank will be another major attraction. The tank holds an incredible 20,000L of water and will be used to display bream caught during the event. It also doubles as a stage to conduct the weigh-ins and presentations during the event and will be on the Town Green during the tournament. Steve Starling will be on hand to tell spectators everything they need to know about the tank. He’ll have free product samples to give away as well.

The Hastings River and its associated waterways is the perfect arena for the Classic’s highly skilled contestants. Open to seasoned tournament anglers as well as first timers, the Classic format allows anglers to compete together as a team for a combined bag limit of five bream each day. All fish will then be released back into the river at the completion of the tournament.

The classic is a family oriented event and a great chance to see the Australia’s best anglers compete in beautiful Port Macquarie. To enter the Sundowner BREAM Classic Port Macquarie, log onto Port Macquarie Holidays web site www.portmacquarieholidays.com and fill out an entry form. – SBC
