AMM River to Reef Tournament
  |  First Published: October 2006

The Annual AMM River to Reef Fishing Classic is on 9-12 November and will be run in conjunction with the North Coast International Boat Show at Quad Park in Kawana on the Sunshine Coast.

“It’s reputation is bigger than big and the number of entrants have grown ten fold over the past two years because this is the best fishing tournament in SEQ,” Brad McKendrick said.

The tournament boasts over $30,000 in prizes along with thousands of dollars in giveaways. The organisers always ensure that the majority, not the minority, of anglers have the opportunity to win prizes, which is why the competition has such a strong following.

RAD, the Recreational Association for the Disabled, has grown from humble beginnings to promoting the fishing classic at a major attraction on the Sunshine Coast annually. Entrants can compete in either of two categories: offshore and beach/estuary. November is a great month to sort the anglers from the wannabes with the strong transition period making the fishing all that tougher.

AMM, the major sponsors, will reward one lucky angler with a CV series plate aluminium 4.5 fitted with electrics and a 40hp Yamaha and a Belco Custom Trailer worth $26,000. Another lucky junior angler will walk away with a Viking kayak with an electric motor and fishing package from Wilson valued at over $3000.

Mix that with $30,000 worth of other prizes for mystery weights, random prize draws and category winners and you have one great tournament.

Get your entry in right now; Adults are $50 and Juniors are $10 and entry forms are available at selected fishing outlets or by contacting Greg Balfour on (07) 5493 1998 or 0418 256 536. You can also enter by visiting the web site www.rivertoreef.net . – R2R
