Lake Wivenhoe lived up to its reputation as SEQ’s big bass lake during the recent Wivenhoe BASS Electric round.
Foregoing their traditional Father’s Day brekkie in bed, 45 anglers turned out on a fresh autumn morning to line up at the start. The majority of anglers caught fish, and they were taken on a variety of lures, from soft plastics to tailspinners and spinnerbaits. The fact that the top 15 place getters weighed in bags of 5kg or more is testament to the quality of the Lake Wivenhoe fishery.
After the weigh-in was complete Ken Murray crept to the top of the leader board with a massive bag of 5.7kg. Ken used Jackall Mask Vibs to score his fish which were suspended out from Platypus Cliffs.
Snapping at Ken’s heels in second place was John Fooks with a 5.5kg bag, which included the Big Bass for the day. At a massive 3.15kg, this monster Wivenhoe bass took a Baby Bass Slider fished just off the bottom in the same area of the dam. Finishing off the top three was Marcel Kreiger with a 5.5kg bag. – ABT
