Thirty-six teams competed in the first Brisbane River Classic and they caught some great fish.
More of a social event than a full-on competition, the Brisbane River Classic started with a few mates talking about how good the fishing was in the Brisbane River and organising a friendly comp between themselves. As is the case with most fishing things, it got out of hand and anglers from all over SEQ wanted to come along and have a bit of a fish.
While no sharks were landed at the event, there were some category winners and these were:
Catfish: The Crumbs (Tom Jennings/Mark Jennings) with a 2.2kg specimen;
Threadfin: Team Borris (Jordan Hunt/Troy Marien) with a 8kg specimen, and;
Bream: Team Mullets (David/Katrina/Rosalie/Lucinda) with a 0.5kg specimen.
The next competition is scheduled for December and for more information check out the website at www.brisbaneriverclassic.com. - BRC
