Shane Stewart Memorial Fishing Competition
  |  First Published: May 2008

The Shane Stewart Memorial Fishing Competition will be held from Friday June 6 to Sunday June 8 at the Apex Park Golden Beach, next to the Caloundra Power Boat Club.

Shane Stewart had a great passion for fishing and was involved in a boating accident, which claimed his life in Pumicestone Passage on June 10, 1999. His family and friends vowed to hold a memorial competition each year to honour his life and love of fishing.

This competition is now in its ninth year and hosted by the Caloundra Coast Guard in accordance with the wishes of the Stewart family.

Registration times are Friday 4pm – 7pm and Saturday 8am – 10.30am.

Weigh-in will be Saturday 2pm – 5pm and Sunday 10am – 1pm, presentations will start at 1.30pm.

Offshore species as well as estuary species are eligible for prizes and there will be numerous random draws and secret weights.

This will be the second year the competition has been hosted by the Caloundra Coast Guard and they anticipate a great outcome. The Caloundra Coast Guard is a volunteer organisation and the profits from the competition will assist in funding operational costs.
