CFT-210 Epoxy Dryer
  |  First Published: May 2008

For any fly-tying anglers who have tried flies that need epoxy, softex, soft dip or other coatings, will appreciate a good drying system.

Mayfly Tackle, Australian agents for quality products such as Scientific Angler, Innovator rods and reels, Lamson Reels, Abel Reels and many others, have recently started importing an awesome epoxy dryer. The C&F Designs brand make a range of specific fly boxes, tying and fishing tools and have a high reputation for quality among keen fly anglers.

Their CFT-210 Epoxy Dryer has many great features, including a lightweight design, 16-slot foam disk and enough elevation for drying even the largest of saltwater patterns. I recently purchased one and was so impressed with it that I thought I would let you all in on this great addition to my tying bench.

It runs on three AA batteries, which will give many hours of use. All you have to do is apply the epoxy, push the fly into one of the many foam slots and switch the dryer on. The steady rotation of the CFT-210 will produce an even finish on the epoxy without sagging to one side. Now your epoxy minnows, surf candies and other flies will look just like the commercially tied patterns, but probably better.

Making several flies and then mixing one batch of epoxy and coating them all together is now possible as the epoxy dryer will hold and rotate all of them until they are dry. This will save time and epoxy, as there will be no wastage from mixing too much for one fly or waiting for each individual one to dry before doing the next one.

The CFT-210 Epoxy Dryer should be available from all quality suppliers of fly tying products and retails for around $90.
