Stanage Bay Easter Fishing Competition

Central Queensland's RACQ Rescue Helicopter Service will be the major beneficiary of the annual Stanage Bay Easter Fishing Competition.

To date thousands of dollars have been raised for the helicopter service during the fishing competition which attracts hundreds of anglers from as far as New South Wales .

Co-organiser of the event Maree Haynes said yesterday more than 100 businesses had donated prizes and cash totalling several thousand dollars and the competition would start at 6am on Good Friday, March 21 and end on Saturday with weigh-ins at 6pm and 5pm respectively.

The major event would be for the Shirley Gimm memorial trophy, an award presented annually in memory of one of Stanage Bay's earlier long-term residents.

Ms Haynes said the weekend concludes on Sunday with an annual crab tying championship, competition presentations along with family games and barbecue and music by Bill Davidson.

Camp sites are available in the council park near the boat ramp and includes fresh water and toilets.
