Awoonga barra bonanza success

From November 1-4 Lake Awoonga played host to the Lions and Lionesses Lake Awoonga Barra Bonanza, giving numerous keen anglers the opportunity to test their skills and land some great prizes.

The fishing competition winners were divided into the juniors and seniors. The juniors’ winner with the biggest barramundi at 18.8kg, was Jacob Jones. The biggest catfish (3.72kg) was caught by young Elizabeth Bishop, while Daylan Christie landed the biggest grunter on the day. Jarrod Ning brought home the largest redclaw.

In the seniors competition the winners were Jacob Jones (junior/senior), Phillip Myers (17.55kg), Alan Hawkes (16.75kg), Rowan Eyles (3.36kg), David Orridge and Mark Sheen.
