2007 Barra Tour – get into it!
  |  First Published: September 2007

The 2007 ABT BARRA Tour is a chain of tournaments which target Queensland’s impoundment barramundi. It’s one of ABT’s most exciting tournaments as you get the chance to battle with big Barra.

There are two series of tournaments in the Barra Tour: the Northern Tour and the Southern Tour. The Northern Tour includes Teemburra Dam, near Mackay, Peter Faust Dam, the Whitsundays and Lake Tinaroo in the Atherton tablelands all filled with oodles of barramundi more than a meter. The Southern Tour consists of Lake Awoonga and Lake Monduran which are located south of Gladstone.

You can enter into any ABT barra event, or you can do the Northern or Southern Tour for a week of barra fishing on the magical dams.

It’s a cast and retrieve style event and you can use any type of lure or fly.

Anyone who desires to catch a metre plus barra can enter the Barra Tour. It’s a team event so you need to bring a partner.

Entry forms for the ABT Barra Tour are available on the website www.australianbarra.com.au . Also see the website if you would like to know more about how to catch barra with lures. It has results and photos from last year and tells how the winners caught their fish.
