The 2007 Moreton Bay and Offshore Fishing Challenge was a big success with entries up 20% even though the weather was pretty ordinary for the first two days.
Over 800 entrants competed for the $100,000 worth of prizes on offer and plenty of fish made it to the weigh station.
Daryl, the $30,000 Pattemore Meats tagged fish, eluded all attempts to entice it during the competition. Hopes are high for Daryl 2 to be caught next year. It can now be revealed the Daryl was released from the foreshore at the Esplanade in Redland Bay adjacent to where the caravan park used to be.
The new teams competition was a highlight with Team Wilson just pipping Gem Hotel by one point in the final wash up.
Everyone had a great time at the competition and hopes are high for next year’s event.
