2007 HUMMINBIRD $100,000 FAMILY FISHING CHALLENGE
  |  First Published: June 2007

The Redland Bay Amateur Fishing Club have announced that the 2007 Humminbird Moreton Bay & Offshore Family Fishing Challenge is to definitely go ahead at the grounds of the Redland Bay Hotel over the Queens Birthday long weekend in June.

With increased sponsorship, $30,000 tagged fish (yes $30,000 cash if you catch it) ladies and juniors sections, team entry, new rules and categories and an incredible variety of prizes, this challenge promises to be the biggest and most family friendly yet.

New Challenge Co-ordinator, Wal Ninnes, said, “Due to increased awareness of conservation factors, the club and major sponsors have decided to change rules regarding various fish species. We have also changed rules to give everybody more of a go, particularly in some categories that traditionally attract disputes.

“With last year’s competition rated one of the best ever, this should make for a cracker of a weekend.”

As an indication of last year’s popularity, all major sponsors have come back on board. Naming rights go to Humminbird, Gold Sponsorship to Bayside Motorama Marine and Wilson Fishing Tackle Specialists and major sponsors are Redland Times/Bayside Bulletin, Pattemores Meats, Redlands Landscape Supplies, Redland Bay Hotel, Nu-Marine, Statewide Survey Group, J & J Batteries, Victoria Point Mower Centre, Bush and Beach Magazine, Minn Kota and Ray White Alexandra Hills .

Lucky door prizes (that’s right, just for entering) from Bayside Motorama Marine will again be a $24,000 boat package for seniors and a $5,500 boat package for juniors. These prizes will be part of the overall $100,000 cash and prizes to give away. The boats can be viewed at Motorama Bayside Marine (3218 Old Cleveland Rd, Capalaba).

Early entry prizes include a family weekend at Amity Point from Amity Bungalows and Sea Stradbroke for seniors as well as a 50cc Quad Bike from bestbargains.com.au for juniors.

Entry forms are available right now, so ink the Humminbird Challenge 2007 Queens Birthday Weekend into your diary as a weekend of fun, friends, family and fishing.
