THREE YEARS ON, STILL GOING STRONG
  |  First Published: March 2007

Following the success of the last year’s combined show, the 2007 Brisbane Tinnie & Tackle Show and the 4x4 Show & Great Outdoors Expo returns to the RNA Showgrounds from Friday March 30 to Sunday April 1, 2007. For lovers of Queensland’s great outdoors there’s no better time to spy, try and buy all the latest gear for your next boating or fishing expedition, camping trip or 4X4 weekend.

More than 28,000 boating and outdoors enthusiasts packed out the unique three-in-one show last year. The 2007 show is shaping up to be bigger and better than ever. With 150 exhibitors showcasing their wares over a massive 16,000 square metres, the show promises to lure unprecedented numbers with unbeatable value, unmissable events and more great products, expert advice and ingenious ideas than you could poke a stick at.

According to Barry Hibberd, General Manager of the Boating Industry Association of Queensland (BIAQ), “There’s no other show like this in Queensland and it’s an opportunity not to be missed. With expert advice on tap, there’s no better place to get the good oil on the best spots in Australia to head for time away with family or friends no matter what you’re into: boats, fishing, tents or 4X4s.”

For boating and fishing enthusiasts – and there are plenty of them – the 2007 Brisbane Tinnie & Tackle Show is the eagerly awaited curtain-raiser to the 2007 Boat Show calendar and the ideal place to check out the latest boats, engines, accessories and innovations in marine electronics.

Add to that the growing allure of fishing – arguably the most popular sport in Australia, hooking a massive 40% of Australian males at least once a year and a quarter of those once a month or more – and you’ve got a lot of fellas itching to get their hands on all the latest rods, reels, tackle, lures, accessories and spot-on advice for beginners and experts alike.

The 2007 Brisbane Tinnie & Tackle Show, Invitational Bream Tournament will again lure Australia’s top anglers. With $5,000 in prize money up for grabs it’s no wonder some of the best anglers in the country are vying for honours in 2007. Ten teams from around Australia hand-picked by Steve Morgan, Managing Editor of Queensland Fishing Monthly, will set off at 5am and battle it out for catch of the day until around 2pm, when they’ll return to the Showground for the daily weigh-in at 2.30pm.

The team that tops the aggregate scoreboard over the three days of the tournament will be declared the winner. Presentations will be held after the 2.30pm weigh-in on Sunday April 1. Winners of the 2006 tournament, team Hummingbird, will be back to try and re-claim the title in 2007.

Queensland’s growing legion of 4X4 fans will burn rubber to the show for the chance to check out the new breed of diesel powered SUVs that deliver amazing fuel efficiency and a great range of accessories, safety equipment and emergency gear from the biggest players in the 4x4 industry including ARB and TJM. And with expert advice on offer it’s also a great way to pick up a few trade secrets to help make your next trip an even greater success.

Lovers of the great outdoors will revel in many fantastic displays of off-road camper trailers, camping and outdoors gear from the market leaders and ingenious innovators, including Tentworld, Adventure Offroad Campers, Camel Campers, Trayon, Lifestyle Camper Trailers and Piggy Back Campers.

AMM

Australian Master Marine (AMM) will have three custom-built fishing machines on display at stand number 602-607.

Top of the list will be a Tournament Series 7.8m AMM. The Tournament Series will be a real stand out at the show, featuring mirror finish black sides which match perfectly with the twin Suzuki 175HP 4-stroke outboards. The standard features are endless and include three piece toughened glass windscreen, self-draining floor, 6mm plate bottom, flooding kill bin, live bait tank, dual fresh & saltwater deckwash and rod holders.

The Tournament Series is widely regarded as the ultimate in plate alloy design and performance. A fully fitted AMM Tournament Series is real head turner, every option can be catered for and can include custom electronics, fridge/freezers, TV/DVD/stereo, custom paint work and the list goes on. Also on display will be a 6.4m Master Series Centre Cabin, featuring a fantastic two-colour custom paint job and a 6.1m Weekender Series. Karee Marine

Towards the end of 2006 Mako Craft released their new 2007 model range. Most of their regular customers would by now have seen bits and pieces of the new models, but they will be able to see the final version of the exciting new Frenzy and the impressive 610 Plate Offshore rigs at the Tinnie and Tackle Show.

Very few serious fishermen have not owned one of Alf Stessl's legendary trucks at some stage of their life. But how do you improve perfection? Simple, take a truck's strength, reliability and proven hull design, and add the Estuary Tracker’s already perfected tournament features. Here is a boat that will give you the fishability of a true tournament rig combined with the rugged strength and handling capabilities of the famous truck. There is only one true all-rounder on the market – the Mako Frenzy.

The new 610 Mako all-plate range features a new deeper V incorporating the true tracking OuterEdge hull, a wider front gunwhale allowing secure footage to the nose, and higher bow rails. Fuel capacity has been increased to 200 litres. But most importantly, the sides and freeboard have been increased by 100mm (4 inches), making it the deepest boat in its class, and an undeniable offshore champion. Dollar for dollar, this package will not be beaten.

Come and view these 2 exiting new models, as well as a cross section of Mako's popular models at the Karee Marine stand. Or call them on (07) 3875 1600.

Propeller Warehouse Not Just Propellers

The Propeller Warehouse is well known as the provider of some of the best custom propellers to suit almost every outboard on the market, but at this year’s show they will be doing something special.

Recent expansion of the business will see the Propeller Warehouse offer customers a diverse range of fishing tackle and accessories that will ensure your time on the water is productive and fun.

If you’re after specials, there’ll be plenty of those too. There are sensational prices on everything, from props through to binoculars, outriggers, anchors, collapsible buckets and more.

Drop into their stand at the show (No. 401) and check out their range of fishing gear and accessories. You’ll be pleasantly surprised at the range and the prices.

Mr T’s Tinnies Goes Off

It’s an exciting time down at Mr T’s with new models and dealerships coming on line just in time for you to take advantage of them at the Tinnie and Tackle Show.

The big news is the range of new products you’ll get to see on Mr T’s stand (No. 211). Displayed amongst their massive range of Blue Fin, Trailcraft, Allison and Mercury will be the new 2007 model Trailcraft releases, new Blue Fin model releases and the first showing of Suzuki outboards. This will be a stand not to miss for exciting new products and that’s what we all want to check out.

Mr T’s is also offering customers the opportunity to jump into their new boat after the show, just to make sure they have made the right choice – it’s hard to get better after sale service than that these days!

As Theo says, “Don’t buy a boat unless you’ve seen Mr T”.

Logan River Marine

Logan River Marine is very excited about the prospect of showing off the range of Seastorm heavy duty aluminium boats for the first time at this year’s show. Leading the showing will be two models from the 6.1m open water range – the Cuddy Cabin model and the Walkaround.

Along with the Seastorm range, Logan River will be showing off a couple of exciting new Blue Fin models designed for lure fishers. So if you’re into casting lures for anything from bream to barra, you’d be mad not to check out these new models at Logan River Marine.

There’ll also be Polycraft Boats, a full range of Evinrude E-Tec outboards and Galeforce Boats, which are the fibreglass boats that show tinnies the meaning of the word tough.

So drop into the first stand in from the show entrance (No. 115) as it’s the only stand boat buyers will need to visit to get the best deals at the show.

Get the FACTs on Beach Fishing

At this year’s Tinnie and Tackle Show keen beach anglers will be able to check out one of the most innovative and well thought out beach fishing accessories I have seen for a while.

The Fishing and Camping Table (FACT) is a range of dual purpose, all aluminium and plastic demountable tables that are engineered by a qualified tradesman. They are sturdy, the legs are removable for easy storage and transport, it comes with food grade plastic cleaning boards and water bins and its lightweight construction makes it a breeze to assemble and disassemble.

There are three basic models – a hinged two-bin model, a two-bin model and a single-bin model. Each model comes with all accessories including a removable light stand holder and handy drying or scaling rack. Also available are clip-on drink holders that are almost a must have item for storing your valuable coldies while cleaning some fish.

Cleaning the unit is a breeze with a simple hose down or dunk in the surf enough to bring it back to a usable standard. It won’t rust and it’s a one-off buy.

So drop into the FACT stand (No. 624) and check the units out. If they’re not quite what you want, you can have your own FACT custom built to your requirements. If beach fishing is your game, be sure to check out the FACT.

Belco Trailers

These days getting the right trailer for your boat is a very important step. If you’re into offroading or just highway driving, you’ll need the right wheels, tyres, braking system and suspension, as well as lights and frame just to make sure you don’t run foul of the law or break something in transit.

Belco trailers custom build trailers to suit your boat and your boating needs and at this year’s show they will be displaying a range of quality trailers as a sample of what Belco can do for you. If you want a custom offroad trailer with all the bells and whistles, the new Wahoo trailer will be a big drawcard; if you’re looking for strength and ease of maintenance, the parallel flange built trailers will be worth checking out, while for those wanting portability, the folding trailers are a must see.

So if you’re in the market for a new boat or even thinking about upgrading, drop by the Belco stand and have a chat to the boys to see how they can solve your trailering problems.

Blue Fin Boats

Blue Fin Boats are releasing two new models to compliment their already expansive range of sports fishing boats at this year’s Tinnie and Tackle Show.

The phenomenal success of their Wildcat released late last year has led to the development of the 4.75m Tomcat. Packed with some great new features and rated to 90HP it is sure to appeal to all serious sports fishers.

The second boat, the Trooper, is the long-awaited 4.75m model of their popular tiller steered Warrior. All models will be on display at their 3 dealer stands at the show: Mr. T’s Tinnies, Logan River Marine and Tweed Coast Marine.

Both plate sided boats are built with the same attention to detail that has earned Blue Fin Boats its great reputation and are sure to live up to their Built With Pride motto.

Kratzmanns Supplies the lot

If it’s a caravan or a boat you’re after at the show, you’ll want to get a look at the Kratzmanns stand.

This year the team from Kratzmanns will be displaying 10 boat packages along with 10 caravans, each with their own character and purpose.

As far as boats go, Kratzmanns will have a range of Auscraft boats from 4m to 6.4m to suit anything from creek bashing for flatties and bream through to bay-style rigs that will happily get you into the best snapper waters up or down the coast.

The caravans on show will be all dirt road and offroad models. There’ll be a range from small family camper models through to the specialised offroad Trac T Van that has all the bells and whistles.

On-site finance, trades and interest-free lay by are all available so make sure you check out the Kratzmanns stand.

BLA Lends a hand

At their various dealer stand, BLA will be assisting customers to make the right choice when they purchase a new Humminbird sounder or Minn Kota electric motor. Tim ‘The Bream’ Morgan will also be at the show and he is looking forward to answering your questions from sounders and electrics, through to the latest breamin’ techniques and AFC tactics.

So wherever you see Minn Kota or Humminbird, take the time to speak with one of the representatives and get the good oil on the right model.
