Fifty three keen bassers hit the waters of Clarrie Hall Dam for the opening round of the 2008 MotorGuide BASS Electric Series.
While the weather proved less than ideal Clarrie lived up to it’s reputation as one of the premier bass fisheries producing 43 fish for the gathered field. Claiming the number one spot with his 2/2, 2.22kg limit was Gold Coast angler Duane Turner. For the basser from Tallebudgera his winning bag was delivered using a 75mm rainbow trout coloured surface worked along the weed and lily edges in the upper reaches of the dam.
Hot on his heals in second place was BASS Electric regular Ian Galloway who in contrast to Turner fished a subsurface presentation, targeting fish suspended under a floating boom strung across the entrance of one of the many gullies located in the middle reaches of the dam. Galloway scored all his fish using Jackall TN60 in gold including the events Big Bass.
