Wild weather impacts fishing but future looks bright

The entrance opened in late autumn and freshened up the whole system.

The early part of winter featured perfect weather and perfect fishing with good quality bream taking sandworm, prawn and hardbodied lures.

Then came the rain in June and we were inundated with approximately 300mm of rain in the following week.

The flow of the water down the river was fierce and ripped through the waterways ensuring the entrance was well and truly deep and wide.

After taking a couple of weeks to settle down, the few anglers who were in town decided to venture down to the surf beaches and pick up the odd salmon and tailor.

The massive amount of water that was flushed out the system only ensures an amazing productive spring and summer season.

The winter days which begin with a crisp frost become lovely calm sunny days, ideal to dangle a line.

The bream were going great guns till the great flood. As soon as things settle back down the fishing will be back to its best.
