Women ready to turn it on
  |  First Published: November 2008

So many fishing competitions are set up and directed toward the blokes. Don’t get me wrong, nearly every fishing competition going around is open to all sexes – but the number of females that enter you could count on the hand of an amputee.

I don’t know why more females don’t fish competitions. Perhaps the hubbies just don’t invite their better halves? Whatever the cause, the lack of females that compete in fishing competitions is a tad sad.

Well ladies, if you think you can catch a trout and want the hubby or boyfriend to drive the boat and net the fish, if you want to share in a massive $7,000 in prizes, or just want a weekend away with the girls, then I reckon I have found a fishing comp right up your alley.

The lovely people at Dartmouth, with support from Ray White Real Estate (Wodonga) and Southern Cross Ten, as well as a plethora of local businesses, are once again running their very successful Dartmouth Womens Fishing Classic – where the girls do all the fishing.

The blokes can drive boats and net fish but the fishing is totally up to the ladies. With a ton of entertainment on the cards for Friday night thanks to some fun fashion parades for categories such as Best Dressed Team in Fishing Outfits, Most Humorous Individual and Best Dressed Skipper, the night is sure to be one to remember.

Saturday night sees all the presentations followed by some great live music from Rodney Vincent, so make sure you have your dancing shoes firmly fitted. The girls get to show their skills on the weekend of November 14-16, so make sure you get in early and book your tables.

For all the rules and regulations, along with some fantastic accommodation offers, log on to www.dartmouth.net.au or give Robyn a tingle on 02 6072 4233. – Robyn Scales

The Dartmouth Womens Fishing Classic is a ladies only trout fishing competition. It is to be held on November 14-16.
