Lakes Entrance Fishing Convention
  |  First Published: December 2012

This coming February, Lakes Entrance will come alive with heaps of family fun for the Annual Lakes Entrance Fishing Convention.

This is presented by the Lakes Entrance Sports and Community Club .

This is fishing competition open to all ages, male and female – everyone is welcome.

The competition will be held over the weekend of February 8 and 9 2013 and is promising to be lots of family fun.

2013 is the 4th year this event has been held and this year has two aspects. One aspect is the educational side of things with the convention funded by DPI of Victoria. This features Seaweed Sally and a marine biologist who will speak with school children on Friday the 8th and then mount a display at the Club on the Saturday.

The other aspect is the Fishing Classic where the whole family as well as teams can fish for the target species of bream, flathead and whiting in the surrounding areas of Lakes Entrance and Lake Tyers.

There are daily prizes culminating in the Pinky Baade Trophy between Males and Females for the biggest whiting.

As with many competitions nowadays, it is catch and release with photo images on a fishing rule to determine length for the largest fish.

The presentation night and dinner for the Classic/Convention is at the Lakes Sports and Community Club on the Saturday night.
