2013 Burrum Heads Easter Fishing Classic
  |  First Published: March 2013

21st Birthday’s don’t get much bigger than last year and the mad anglers of the Burrum Heads Amateur Fishing Club are at it again!

The members have hooked into preparations for the 22nd annual 2013 Burrum Heads Easter Classic and devised yet another rod bending, line ripping good time for the whole family this Easter. We invite anglers of all ages and ability to join more than 9,000 expected guests over the Easter weekend.

In 2013 gear up and get set for some great offshore and river action as grassy sweetlip and mangrove jack make their debut on the species line up. Grassy sweetlip are found from the Southern Gutters through to Big Woody Island off Urangan and for offshore and estuary anglers mangrove jack have been added to the list to offer lure and bait anglers a fighting chance. The New Year brings new opportunities to take out one of the hot prizes for heaviest bag and best species and it’s set to get even bigger with anglers and visitors enjoying the popular catch and release category, which is one of the major draw cards for the event. Our support of sustainable fishing practices ensures more fish are returned to the ocean each year.

Wether enjoying the village atmosphere of Burrum Heads or the having a rod bending, line ripping good time, we have a fished up thousands of $dollars in prizes and giveaways for the 2013 Easter Fishing Classic. Up for grabs this year we have netted $500 cold hard cash for heaviest whiting, heaviest flathead, and heaviest bream.

The top 10 Reverse Draw finalists are again in for a ‘reel’ treat with hundreds of prizes up for grabs with the reverse draw nominees to be drawn on Saturday and Sunday from all who have registered and again could land anyone who has registered a diverse range of hot prizes. And don’t forget mums and dads, the ever popular and fastest growing Easter Classic activity is set to be another record breaker. With 2 monster Kids Clinics Sunday morning the tin lids get to practice their skills, gather some knowledge and possibly walk away with some great prizes and giveaways.

In keeping with tradition, the Esky Wheel is spun on Saturday and Sunday afternoons and includes the famous ‘adult only’ draw. And after what was thought to be a catastrophic disaster with suppliers sending the wrong coloured esky range, we were quickly reminded by the attending 9,000 visitors that the Esky Wheel was even bigger than years gone by. The only hint is PINK!

The event finale will see one lucky registered angler bag the Super Draw of a boat and trailer package including a full safety pack. This will be drawn on Sunday March 31 from all those who have registered

Registrations opened Monday February 25 so take advantage of our online registration and also be eligible for the Early Bird registration prize. Check out our brand new website www.burrumheadsfishing.com.au for full details of the event or check out our great ads.
