On Saturday October 27, Hooker Boats held its first Hooker Boats Fishing Competition for Hooker Boat owners.

There was 13 boats entered with about 40 anglers for the one day competition hosted at the Cairns Cruising Yacht Squadron.

The weather was turned on with a 5-10 knot southeasterly; an awesome day for fishing. With a shot gun start, it was on. Ten prizes were given away, but rather than awarded for the largest fish species caught they were give to the anglers with fish nearest to the allocated weight.

The weigh-in and presentation was at the CCYS, which proved to be the ideal location. With the success of the first Hooker Boats Fishing Competition, there will definitely be a second next year. – John Margetts
